Gaining acclaim in the mid-90's, this alt-country band, fronted by solo artist Rhett Miller, was the answer to the post-grunge fad that swept America. Touring in support of their new album "Blame It On Gravity", released May, 13, 2008, they will be touring through The House of Blues, Nashville's famous Mercury Lounge and of course, Toad's Place of Richmond on July 27th, 2008. Joining the Old 97's is Sleepercar, with At The Drive-In vocalist Jim Ward, and the Cut Off.

Strange Design: Tribute to Phish

Ever since Phish called it quits in 2004--in front of 80,000 people in Northern Vermont--their throngs of devoted fans have been longing to relive the experience that was "A Phish show." Strange Design is a new Phish tribute band that will be recreating full shows using actual set lists from over twenty years of Phish's history.

Shooter Jennings

Singer/ Songwriter and Multi-instrumentalist Shooter Jennings' modern brand of outlaw country started at a young age. Son of singers Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, Shooter's early years were spent on his parents tour bus, where he was surrounded by music. He discovered rock and roll at age 16 and never looked back. On August 22nd, you can experience Shooter's raw talent first hand at Toad's Place Richmond!

Pat McGee Band

Richmond's favorite son Pat McGee will be coming to rock Toad's Place of Richmond again with his group, The Pat McGee Band. Formed in 1995 in Farmville, VA while attending Longwood University, McGee distributed his first album, From The Wood by selling it door-to-door. Sure to bring an excited crowd, as always, The Pat McGee Band is not to be missed!

Country music singer Jack Ingram will be making his Toad's Place of Richmond debut October 2nd, presented by K 95. Ingram's recent success's include tours with country superstars Brooks & Dunn, Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride, and Toby Keith as well as television appearances on Ellen, Fox, The CBS Morning Show and his own hour long special on CMT. Recently, Ingram was award the Academy of Country Music's "Best New Male Vocalist" honor. Come see what all the hype is about, and get your tickets early!

Phish singer and bassist Mike Gordon will be bringing his show to Toad's Place of Richmond accompanied by musicians Tom Cleary, Todd Isler, Scott Murawski and Craig Myers. Accomplished musicians, Gordon and his guests will be impressing fans new and old.

Mos Def is one of a handful of artists who have breached the gap between underground and mainstream, music and film, small venues and main stage festival performances, and has done so with incredible success. Beginning with music in the mid 90’s, Mos Def found himself to be one of the primary hip-hop artists leading a charge from back alley rhymes to featured spots on radio and MTV. This is one performance not to be missed here at Toad’s Place of Richmond where we welcome Mos Def to our line-up “Where the Legends Play.”
